ABOUT THE URAL STATE UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND ART


The Ural State University of Architecture and Art (USUAA, Alferov University) was founded as an independent higher education institution under the name of Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute in May 1972 on the basis of the Ural Branch of Moscow Architectural Institute In 2015, the school was granted the status of University in accordance with the new law on education enacted in 2014.

USUAA is a federally funded public institution providing higher education in the fields of architecture, urban and rural planning, design, and arts.

The University is situated in Ekaterinburg (Yekaterinburg), the capital of the region of Sverdlovsk Oblast and of the Ural Federal District (UFD), one of the seven major administrative divisions of Russia.Sverdlovsk Oblast extends along the Ural Mountains, which form a natural border between Europe and Asia (see the map).

USUAA is conveniently placed right in the central area of the city, where history meets modernity. The university has played a major role in transforming this industrial agglomeration into an architecturally, culturally and historically significant metropolis. Here, 19th century merchant houses stand next to Constructivist heritage and contemporary high-rise buildings in a unique blend, creating an excellent teaching and learning setting for would-be architects, designers, and artists.

The campus of the university offers everything you need to explore and develop skills in architecture, urban planning, design, and fine and applied arts, and graduate to a successful career whether in Russia, back in your country, or elsewhere in the world.

Two student accommodation buildings, available for all international students, are equipped with all the facilities that you need to feel ‘like home’ and become part of a welcoming and friendly community.
